Women Empowerment- A Talk Session

A Talk Session with Women and Girls, organised and happened on 14 April, 2017.

On 14 April 2017, Indian Hobby Ideas Trust arranged an open-forum for all girls and women, to share, discuss, and talk about issues related to eve-teasing, domestic violence, and how to fight against such incidents. Women of all ages participated in this talk session, along with its chief guest as Ms. Neha Juneja, the founder of Neha Kala Lok Creatives Trust, and Ms. Ishani Juneja, her daughter, and trustee.

During the session, ladies shared their personal experiences with everyone. These incidents arrayed from severe domestic violence by a husband of one to an eve-teasing by a teenager’s close male relative. The chief guests and teachers also shared their experiences, and how they fought out of the whole situation by standing alone for their self-respect, justice, and rights; at the same time, they won it too.

The immediate conclusion drawn was that, that it takes a single moment to decide to fight for what’s right, a single courageous step to break apart from the fear, and just one word “No!” to be screamed-out loud to not only save everyone, along with oneself, and break apart from the age-old chains of patriarchy, and in several families, from male-dominance.

The aim was to make these women feel ‘not-alone’ but empowered- instilling in them the knowledge and strength to stand up for themselves instead of silently lamenting, and fight against such social evils.

The refreshment took place in between the talk. The whole session continued for two hours.
